So I went to fill my Abilfy script two weeks ago and the insurance had dropped me.
Apparently they had to have a copy of my marriage license, drivers license and some stupid form filled out. This is the first time since being married to Allen that we have ever had to provide that documentation to our insurance company but whatever. They had sent me a notice but I had barely read it and of course did NOT see the part that said they would drop me as of a certain date without the documentation. This was all happening when my Nanny took too much of her meds so obviously my mind was in other places.
I called and of course BEGGED AND PLEADED for them to re-add me if I faxed them the information and they refused. I wouldnt be added until May 1 no matter how quickly I got the information to them.
This meant that my Abilfy that I was out of was going to have to be paid for out of pocket. I called to find out how much 17 pills were and it came out to almost $400.
My Effexor was nearly out so I just took my morning dose and skipped my evening pill.
Don't throw knives at me. I realize huge mess was my fault for not getting the info to the insurance company in time. .
I even called the psych doctor and left two messages asking if they had samples and to see what she thought about me dropping the Abilify for two weeks.
She never called me back.
sigh.
I thought for sure I'd be fine for 17 days without the right meds.
I was wrong. The last two weeks were mentally rough for me. A lot of old thoughts returned and some new ones developed. I had my xanax so I took that when my anxiety got too high. I had a couple of panic attacks. Always in the mornings when the kids are at school and I'm alone in this house with my thoughts. I can literally drive myself crazy sometimes.
Anyway I faxed all the paperwork over last Friday. Then I called Monday to make sure they had it. They said they did but that they could not read my drivers license so I would not be added until I fixed that. Now they had my marriage license with my name AND date we were married on it but they STILL wouldn't add me without the dumb license. So I scanned it and emailed it and thankfully after ANOTHER call the next morning I was added. I started my Abilify back on Tuesday and each day I have felt better but I'm still UP and DOWN sporatically. Then sometimes I'm numb. Numb is still a weird feeling for me. I've walked around an open wound for so long that not feeling it at all is still foriegn. Numb though is better than feeling like your walking around with your heart bleeding about all the crap in your life that SUCKS and you can't change or control.
So lesson learned......Abilify DOES help me tremendously. I need to take my meds religiously EVERY SINGLE DAY and INSURANCE COMPANIES SUCK DONKEY BALLS.
That is all.

Well done for getting through those weeks, and for meeting the ridiculous demands of the insurance company even though you were feeling the effects of not having the meds. Donkeys balls indeed.
Never forget. What we have isn't "insurance." HMO's & PPO's are the first step towards socialized medicine. It hasn't worked out so well for us. Sorry those evil b@st@rds made you go without your meds. Wish our reps in the gov't would read these blogs sometime.
